Krasnystaw

There is such a small, somewhat sleepy town in the Lublin region; very old, somewhat forgotten, which all beer drinkers remember (but not only) at least once a year. Krasnystaw is famous for the "Polish Oktoberfest" - Chmielaków. It has been organized since 1971, always at the beginning of September and lasts 3 days. Beer lovers from all over Poland and from abroad come here then. Numerous concerts divided into categories are organized at that time, including Chmiel Rock, Cersanit Jazz, performances of folk bands, and a lot of competitions and games. Every year, a hop procession goes through the streets of the city. The fun is great. The city is experiencing a real invasion of guests - up to 20,000 But you have to mention something and the charming town itself, which has a rich history and many valuable monuments for such a small town. There is a Baroque Jesuit church. St. Franciszek Ksawery with precious decorations, Post-Jesuit College from the beginning of the 17th century, Bishop's Palace from the 17th century, the St. Augustine affiliate church of St. Of the Holy Trinity (1837-1839), a monastery from around 1826, which served as barracks for the tsarist army during the partitions, a synagogue and an old Jewish cemetery. The first traces of human activity in today's Krasnystaw are from around 12,000-7900 BC, and from the city itself - around 5000 BC. !!! The town was founded by the eleventh century fortified town of Szczekarzew. Under King Jagiełło, a new name began to spread - Krasny Staw. This name, according to legend, comes from the words of Queen Zofia (Sońka Holszańska), IV wife of Władysław Jagiełło, who at the sight of the local pond was delighted with "kakoj eto krasnyj pond!". This city was particularly liked by King Władysław Jagiełło, who was a frequent visitor publishing a number of documents here. I'm not sure, but I think he gave the city a coat of arms - two carp, because he was a great lover of fish himself (as a consumer, of course). It is a charming, somewhat sleepy town, but with such a marketplace that I love. I like the panorama of Krasnystaw from the side of the beltway (before the Wieprz road towards Zamość). By the way, Wieprz at this stage is still a small piglet compared to, for example, from around Kock. It is worth coming here not only to Chmielaki, because the accommodation base is really OK; and there are plenty of attractions nearby.
