Great silence, peace, forests full of various mushrooms, blueberries and raspberries, ponds full of various fish, and until recently bread so real, fragrant, sourdough. This is not utopia. There are still such places. Siemień is a small town, but very charming. Sometimes you can hear about Siemień in Christmas before Wiadomości, thanks to the royal carp, famous all over the country for its excellent taste. There are huge breeding ponds here. It is actually one pond divided by dikes, but it is the largest pond in the entire Lublin Province, 830 ha, created in an unusual way. In the second half of the 17th century, Tatar prisoners of war built dykes here, which after damming the river created a huge pond, Siemień, of 500 ha, For so many years fish have been bred here not only for carp, but also for pike, catfish, grass carp, silver carp and zander. It was the catfish that was the reason for the Siemień fishermen's pride. In 1977, a two-year catfish called Batory was brought to Siemień. He spent 26 years here reaching a weight of 60 kilograms and a length of 2 meters. But there are plenty of fishing and forest poachers, so misfortune happened. In autumn 2003, unknown perpetrators opened the pond locks for several hours and Batory, accompanied by other carp, swam away. One can only hope that he did not fall prey to poachers but rushes somewhere in the waters of Wieprz or the Vistula. One of the park's most beautiful in Poland at one time is spatially connected to these magnificent vast ponds. A manor complex of the Zaorski family was built of brick in the 19th century. Today it is the seat of the Fisheries Farm - consisting of a court and icehouse, and we know the hand of a good host today. Once the owner of Siemie was duchess Izabela Czartoryska, known for her passion for arranging beautiful parks. It is thanks to her that the palace and park complex has a distinct landscape character and its romantic beauty. In Siemień, the historic wooden church of St. Transfiguration from 1931 with antique equipment and two late baroque chapels with sculptures of pensive Christ of Saint. Jan Nepomucena Other historic buildings are noteworthy are the water mill from the nineteenth century - unfortunately closed, located on the Piskornica river, roadside shrines, all fours and, until recently, a wonderful old tiny bakery. The bakery building is very old, and the bakery has existed since 1979. Can you imagine nowadays bread baked using old natural methods and natural sourdough ?! The stove is built traditionally here, fired with wood, not converted into coal, because it is ecological. It is this wood-burning oven that gives the bread its unique taste. Only manual methods were used here, no machines. The bread was baked in molds. And what were the buns, fingers and onions. And such familiar cookies through the machine - who else remembers? It is a pity that nobody took over. The owner was already old and sick. It is so today that everything must pay off; and health and tradition are losing .... Siemień has great water and forest space as well as clean air. The charming landscapes and silence create the perfect conditions to spend your vacation away from the hustle and bustle. There are attractive walking paths and fishing spots perfect for anglers. What more could you want? - health? It is also a perfect place for convalescents and nervous workaholics. A wonderful place for everyone.
