The village was mentioned at the beginning of the 16th century as a knightly settlement guarding the crossing on the Bug River. Wołosi also settled in it. In the second half of the 18th century, the village was part of the Świerże estate. In 1873, an area of the area of Hniszów was sold. 367 acres, on which the Jamne, Marysin and Wesołówka colonies were founded. The last owners of the Hniszów estate were the Karpinski family. After the First World War, they erected a new, wooden manor, demolished in 1957. The remains of the manor-garden establishment with one of the most magnificent pedunculate oaks in Poland by Bolko oak and several other trees - monuments of nature - have survived. During World War II, a German border guard post was located in Hniszów, in November 1942 it was attacked by two teams of Peasant Battalions under the command. Marian Trendoty pseud. Jan Pasek. The partisans freed prisoners - members of the BCh and acquired weapons. In 1944, as a result of a fire caused by the Germans, 42 houses burned down.
