The tower, commonly known as the "Tower" or the Tower of the Elbow, was a defensive table built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. It was erected at the height of the Vistula crossing, the so-called Woyszyński transport. It is located on the top of a hill, about 180 meters from the lower castle and 19 meters above its level. Its height, depending on the place, reaches up to 20 meters, and the base circumference is 32.5 meters. The thickness of the walls is 4.2 meters at the base and with the height decreases to 3 meters at the top. The only entrance to the tower is at a height of six meters at ground level. The lowest floor has a dungeon. There is no agreement as to the purpose of the building. Depending on the source, it is assigned the functions of a prison, a river lighthouse, customs headquarters and even a treasury. Most likely, the role of the building was to guard the "Woyszyńska" crossing, the Vistula River and to collect customs duties. After building the nearby castle, the tower would lose its defensive role and after removing the conical roof, it was used as an inland "lighthouse" - facilitating thanks to the bonfire burned at its top - night navigation on the Vistula River
