Granaries are warehouses in which grain-floated grain was stored. Built from the 16th century from stone (previously wood). The prosperity of the city, which was developing dynamically, grew on trade in this commodity. The facades of these buildings give them extraordinary beauty. Above Kazimierz, at Krakowska Street, there is the Kobiałki granary - it houses the Tourist House of PTTK. Next to it was a granary "under God's passion", considered the greatest of all, was ruined and demolished in the 20th century. Next to them there are traces of several other such objects. The largest concentration of historic granaries can be found on the Vistula below Kazimierz in the area of the former Wojszyńska crossing. Walking down Podzamcze Street we will see the ruins of the granary Lenkiewiczowa and beautifully restored Ulanowski and Feuerstein in turn. The latter houses the Natural History Museum. Further granaries worth seeing are located in the area of the former port and ferry crossing to Wojszyn, including the "twin", Nowakowski's "granary" and "Pielak's Granary". Just behind the port are the last two Kazimierz granaries - both restored by private owners and rebuilt into hotels.
