Address: ul. Podzamcze , 24-120 Bochotnica
A Gothic defensive fortress, founded after 1340 on the left, steep and wooded slope of the Bystra Valley in Bochotnica. The castle and castle hill were entered in March 1970 to the register of monuments of the Lublin Province. Currently, evidence is accumulating that the castle was much larger than previously thought, and its destruction occurred in the nineteenth century as a result of landslides from the east and north. The castle was probably built by the Firlej family in the 14th century, according to records from 1368. In the 1660s it was the property of the Zbąski family, of which Katarzyna of Zbąski Oleśnicka attacked merchants and nearby noble manors. Then the castle passed into the hands of Oleśnicki, and after 1532 - into leases. It is not known when he was abandoned. The building was never a royal property. In 1964–1965, the castle was studied by architects from the Department of Polish Architecture of the Wrocław University of Technology. Fragments of stone portals, a tracery fragment, relics of a brick rib vault and a stone console were discovered. Research has shown two stages of building the castle. In the fourteenth century, perimeter walls were built on a polygon plan with a single-bay one. At the beginning of the 15th century, the castle was expanded from the south. Only ruins have survived to this day.
