The Lublin region is characterized by a great diversity of its very picturesque landscape and almost unpolluted natural environment. There are few regions in Poland where such a wealth of species and landscapes can be found, and the forests of the Lublin Province are among the healthiest in the country! My family has several favorite forests to which we go depending on the mood and needs. To some we go only for mushrooms, to others for a picnic, and others are perfect for cycling trips. There is one such forest - but enormous - that meets all of the above criteria. This is not one such forest, but an entire complex - 13,000 hectares of forest farm! These are the picturesque Kozłowieckie Forests, which stretch north of Lublin. It is the largest compact forest complex in the Lublin Province. Oh, you can get lost here. Really! I know something about it, because we were once looking for my mother. And a cell phone doesn't have coverage everywhere. We came to the numbered roadside posts in which we should look more or less the direction. I luckily succeeded. But we entered from Nowy Staw, and we found my mother almost at Majdan Kozłowiecki (a good few kilometers!). We usually enter the forest from the side of Nowy Staw, because this way we get by car deep into the forest. (Many bans have recently been set in the forest). This road leads from Nowy Staw to Majdan Kozłowiecki (compacted, sandy, but after rain or after winter ... you know it). Halfway down, at the crossroads of forest roads with asphalt, we leave the car under an old wooden cross and from here we set out to mushroom picking - here the most mushroom brooms. Continue to get to Maidan, because the sign "stop and stop" is displayed here. (It is better to follow the signs, because the forest inspector punishes unruly mushroom picking tourists). And from the side of the Maidan, on the edge of the forest, there is a great place for family camping. From here, a "stone's throw" to Kozłówka and Lubartów. You can also get to the forest by a charming road from Wola Niemiecka - a bit worse road. Generally, we leave the car on the edge of the forest and continue cycling, because the bike route is excellent - and the forest track and asphalt. A comfortable asphalt road leads through the entire length of the forest from the flyover behind Germany, but entry by car is prohibited. There is a designated parking lot. And hence there is a long way to these more charming backwoods. The asphalt road goes further to Stary Tartak and Majdan Kozłowiecki. Sometimes we venture to the Old Sawmill where there is a beautiful forester's lodge and monumental oak and lime. And from there to the water. Pond Designs! Stróżek Pond. It is forbidden to enter the muddy, muddy water! But for a blanket on the grassy bank, please. Townspeople "crammed" here too, because more and more trash can be seen. And those mosquitos! Do you know this joke? "Honey, isn't it a charming place? - yes, three million mosquitoes think the same" The entire bicycle route is about 30 km (and the bike path leading straight to Kozłówka about 20 km from the turn from the Lublin road behind Germany) and nature paths (the didactic opens right at the entrance to the forest behind Germany, in front of the flyover). So you can walk at will and ride bikes. We love the local forest paths. Because here each has its own unique charm. Tempts, encourages you to step on her. We like to discover a new one each time and then arrange ourselves on the soft moss and wait for the dwarf. Maybe someday we will hear fairy tales from moss and ferns (someone else remembers that?). The proximity of Lublin means that on weekends these forests are frequently visited by lovers of contact with nature. Only a dozen or so years ago there were no such crowds. I guess now people miss nature more, peace? And more are motorists who venture further? But be careful with this venture into unknown areas, because in addition to getting lost there is a chance (risk?) Of meeting wild animals: hares, elks, deer, fallow deer, roe deer and wild boars. With the latter I stood eye to eye - maybe not quite in the eye, because as soon as I saw about 5 meters in front of me a huge croup and something grunted ominously, I "ripped" the other way that my husband and child congratulated me on "a hundred" ! (at school my son was running 100m) I don't know who was more scared. All in all, I didn't turn out to be a keen observer, because it should have been supposed on a very hard ground that the inhabitant of the forest usually lives here. But I was so upset about hunting another mushroom that I didn't pay attention to anything else. It's amazing how many people "wander" here, and nobody gets in the way and everyone comes out with baskets full of mushrooms or canans full of berries. Kozłowiecki forests are beautiful at any time of the year. In winter, you can go here for charming hiking (rather cross-country skiing) or sleigh rides. In summer for blueberries, in autumn for mushrooms, in spring, admire anemones and hepatica and watch the nature awake. It is beautiful at any time of the year. For tired travelers or amateurs of rest, relaxation among the singing of birds there are designated camping places - seats, benches, tables with and without roofing, places designated for bonfires. A must see!
