The former royal castle in Lublin with the Castle Chapel, originally built in the 12th century. In the 13th century, a Romanesque donjon (residential and defensive tower) was added to the castle, rebuilt several times, during the German occupation a prison was located there, later the castle was adapted for the same purposes by the NKVD, only in the mid-1950s. In the 20th century a museum was established there. Castle chapel St. Trinity, built as the foundation of Casimir the Great, is one of the most valuable monuments in Poland, covered with Ruthenian-Byzantine frescoes from 1418, commissioned by Władysław Jagiełło.
